刘劲松大使访问维多利亚州并会见地方政要

刘劲松大使积极评价中澳地方交流合作的成效和前景，表示维多利亚州与中国的交往历史悠久，当地农业、旅游、教育、体育、医疗等资源得天独厚。墨尔本市宜居宜商、人文荟萃，在中国知名度高，与天津、成都等中国地方联系密切。中国驻澳使领馆愿同维州政商学等各界多沟通、多走动、多办活动，巩固双方传统领域合作、积极推进清洁能源、科技创新、AI赋能等新兴领域合作，为中澳关系稳定和发展贡献带有泥土味、充满人情味的力量。刘大使还促请当地政府和政要关心和维护华社合法权益，保障中国游客和留学生安全。

Ambassador Liu Jinsong Visits Victoria and Meets with Victorian Dignitaries

On 26 October 2026, Ambassador Liu Jinsong visited Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, and met with Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria; the Hon Ben Carroll MP, Premier of Victoria; and Jess Wilson MP, Leader of the Opposition.

Ambassador Liu spoke positively of the achievements and prospects of China-Australia subnational exchanges and cooperation. He noted that Victoria has a long history of engagement with China and is uniquely endowed with exceptional resources in agriculture, tourism, education, sports and healthcare. He added that Melbourne is highly liveable and business-friendly, a vibrant cultural hub with a strong profile in China, and maintains close ties with such Chinese cities as Tianjin and Chengdu. He said that the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Australia are willing to enhance communication, increase engagement and jointly host more events with the Victorian government, business and academic sectors, with the goal of consolidating cooperation in traditional fields while advancing cooperation in emerging areas including clean energy, technological innovation and AI empowerment, so as to contribute a down-to-earth and people-centric impetus to the stability and development of China-Australia relations. Ambassador Liu also urged the Victorian government and dignitaries to support and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese community and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Chinese tourists and students.

The Victorian dignitaries extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Liu, recounting the historical records, anecdotes and longstanding tradition of friendly exchanges between Victoria, Melbourne and China. They highlighted the many unique features and strengths of Victoria and Melbourne, particularly the region’s enthusiasm for and affinity with China-related cooperation, and affirmed that the region upholds openness, inclusiveness and multiculturalism. They expressed appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding contributions of the Chinese community to the economic and social development of Victoria and Melbourne, welcomed Chinese students, tourists and businesses. They also expressed the hope to continue pioneering China-Australia subnational exchanges, further deepen cooperation across all sectors and carry out a rich and diverse range of people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Ambassador Liu also visited Melbourne’s Chinatown, where he had in-depth exchanges with local Chinese students and heads of Chinese enterprises.Consul General Fang Xinwen attended the related events.
